September 10, 2006: We are in advanced stages of registering SOPE in Sweden by begining of October. We aslo plan to register in Canada before the end of the year. We are inviting international volunteers to come and share their experience with us.

September 10, 2006: We are emabrking on stepping up community outreach programs for HIV/AIDS and TB related programs. Effective from 15th September, SOPE will launch free Voluntary Counselling and Testing (VCT) and/or Voluntary Testing and Counselling (VTC) at our field office at Ndejje.

This will be conducted once a week and refrerals to MILDMAY and TASO or other  service providers shall be made upon assesment and need.

September 10, 2006:

SOPE has on going registration for locals and urban refugees intrested in Adult literacy and free English language course for those urban refugees living near the area.

The program shall be part of our activities with the UNHCR community services under the REFUGEE SUPPPORT NGO NETWORK(RESNET), to which we are members.

September 10, 2006: The kniting program is in the pipeline and registration is ongoing. SOPE shall offer free materials and training to women most of whom are widows or girl-mothers, in a bid to help them become self-reliant.

August 31, 2006: SOPE CEO, Mr. Charles Lwanga Bbaale, who is also representing our office in Sweden, participated in the Global water Partnership meeting and 10th anniversary celebrations held in Stockholm, Sweden between 17th August - 20th August 2006.

The CEO also participated in the World Water week festivities in Stockholm from 20th - 26th august 2006.

June 1, 2006: Ms Aisha Lumala, SOPE staff member, attended a Capacity Building Training workshop for water proffessionals aimed at building partnerships in Water and sanitation, Organised by BPD WS and WATER AID.  The BPD Course in Kampala was conducted between 7th may - 12th May 2006 , at Ridar hotel under the theme," Enhancing Proffessional Practice".
